McPHERSON—The reading team at Washington Elementary School is being celebrated for their commitment to staff and students.

The reading team is guided by Reading Interventionist Rhonda Koehn and includes Instructional Aides Jennifer Starkel, Tiffany Eilrich and Megan Vogelsberg, as well as Reading Assistants Allison Unruh and Shawna Gumm. The reading team provides small group and individualized instruction in the subject area of reading. When not providing reading instruction, they are completing other valuable tasks.

Principal Jill Beam says the reading team members are always ready to lend a helping hand and can be found completing clerical tasks for staff and helping with lunch and lunch recess supervision. Additionally, the group helps support the school by covering classrooms when a substitute teacher cannot be secured.

“Our Reading Team understands that it takes a village to educate our students, and they are always willing to jump in with smiles on their faces and help in any way they can,” Beam said. “We are truly blessed to have these six ladies at WES.”

Staff and students appreciate the reading team for working hard to provide targeted instruction to address the needs of the Washington Elementary students and putting the best interests of students first and foremost.
