USD 448 approves continuous learning plan

By Diane Miller

In order to approve the USD-448 continuous learning plan before it was sent to the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) for review, the Inman school board met via Zoom online video conference service in a special meeting on April 2.  The plan explains how educational goals will be achieved during the rest of this current school year.

The plan was approved for submission, and Scott Friesen, superintendent, will forward it before the deadline on April 8. Once the KSDE has approved the plan, the district will receive a waiver of attendance hours for the rest of the semester.

In discussion of how the plan is being implemented already, Jo McFadden, IES principal, stated, “The fourth and fifth grades are using Google Classroom as an online learning tool, and K-6 classes are using the Seesaw remote learning program. Some teachers have made websites to connect with their classes.”

She also reported they are trying to contact each family that has not connected online in an attempt to ensure successful learning outcomes for every student.

The meeting was adjourned less than 10 minutes after the call to order.
