On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, McPherson Police Officers and McPherson County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies with the pursuit of a subject, which ended in an arrest.

At 5:19 p.m., McPherson County Emergency Communications informed McPherson Police Officers and McPherson County Sheriff’s Deputies of Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies pursing a felon in possession of a firearm into McPherson County on K-61. McPherson Police Officers attempted to stop the fleeing subject’s vehicle by using Stopsticks to deflate the tires, just outside the McPherson City Limits. The tires on the subject’s vehicle were deflating, which slowed the vehicle but the subject continued to flee into the City, eventually becoming stuck in a field on the south side of McPherson. Once the vehicle was stuck in the field, the subject fled on foot.

Officers pursued the subject on foot, caught the subject, and arrested the subject. The subject was the only occupant of the vehicle. The suspect was released to Reno County Deputies and transported to the Reno County Jail. No injuries resulted from the pursuit. The subjects vehicle and some grass were damaged.
