With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the volunteers who make the McPherson Community Thanksgiving dinner possible are busy at work. The 26th annual McPherson Community Thanksgiving dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day at the McPherson Community Building.

Last year, due to COVID precautions, the meal was served drive-through style. But, this year, the meal is back and as close to normal as possible. Community members are invited to come to enjoy a sit down Thanksgiving meal. The doors of the Community Building will open at 11:15 a.m. with serving 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or until the food runs out.

“I’m excited the meal will be in person this year,” Hannah Rutledge of McPherson said. “It was nice they did it last year, but we just love getting to go in person and visit with people we haven’t seen in a while. It is a treat for our family.”

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner is made possible through donations from local businesses and individuals and the work of countless volunteers. Volunteers are still needed to help with serving the meal and especially for help with clean up after the meal. To volunteer, call or text, 620-755-0752.

Carryout meals will be available with prior approval. Carryout meals are limited to five meals. For limited home deliveries or information, call 620-747-2760.

The meal is free to anyone in the community. However, donations will be accepted at the meal. Donations can also be made by mailing a check to CTI, P.O. Box 14, McPherson Kan., 67460.
