The goal is to increase awareness about first responder programs in the community and other anti-crime efforts.

This event will be a free public event for all ages, held on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lakeside Park, McPherson.

This will be a large block party-style event. Participating first responders having displays at the event will be McPherson Police Department, McPherson County Sheriff’s Office, McPherson Fire Department, McPherson EMS, McPherson County 911 Communications, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas National Guard, US Army, LifeSave Transport, Heart To Heart Child Advocacy Center, Prairie View, and SafeHope.

First Responders’ Night will educate the public on procedure, equipment, protocols and other relative information. The public will be able to watch drone and K-9 demonstrations. The public will be able to tour the patrol vehicles, military and non-military vehicles, ambulance, fire engines and two helicopters.

McPherson Police Department will help guide parents on how to fill out their “Child Safety Identification Kit.”

There will also be a dunk tank, bounce houses, face painting, and best of all, free food.
