Co-Chairs of Campaign
“Kansas Republicans deserve a candidate for the U.S. Senate who shares their values and is willing to stand up and fight for those values in Washington,” said LaTurner. “As a conservative, I will fight every day to represent our Kansas conservative values in Washington.”
Along with the announcement of his candidacy, LaTurner has signed a Contract with Kansas. The contract includes seven commitments that will hold Washington accountable, return fiscal sanity, and keep our nation secure. The full text of each of the promises can be found at ContractWithKansas.com.
“These are my seven non-negotiable promises to the people of Kansas. Who I am and what I value as a conservative public servant, husband, and father will not change,” LaTurner said.
LaTurner’s campaign will be co-chaired by Dave Murfin and Ivan Crossland.
“Jake is the conservative champion we need in the US Senate. He will fight for our values and work tirelessly on behalf of Kansas families and small business owners,” said Crossland.
“Jake represents the next generation of Republican leadership and will bring a fresh, vibrant approach to Washington with a solid, conservative core,” said Murfin. “He will be an effective leader for Kansas at this very critical time in our nation’s history.”
Prior to becoming State Treasurer, Jake was twice elected to the Kansas Senate where he was an innovator and champion of conservative reform. He helped spearhead welfare-to-work reform in Kansas, which is badly needed on the federal level. Jake lead the fight, along with the Kansas Farm Bureau, to protect Kansas families and farmers by authoring and passing the property tax lid. He has an A+ rating from the NRA for leading the charge for the successful passage of Constitutional Carry in Kansas. Jake proudly holds a 100% voting record with Kansans for Life and earned the “2017 Pro-Life Hero Award” for his work on Simon’s Law.
Additionally, in his current role as Treasurer, Jake has set the bar high in the area of government efficiency and has returned a record of over $45 million in unclaimed property to Kansans since he took office. LaTurner has also successfully sued the federal government for their unwillingness to return an estimated $23 billion to patriotic Americans who purchased war bonds during WWII. He has done this all with a reduced staff and budget.
Jake is a sixth-generation Kansan from Galena, a graduate of Pittsburg State University, and the father of four young children. He and his wife Suzanne are committed to investing their time and energy to building a bright future for the people of Kansas for generations to come.
