BURRTON – Senior Macy DeWitt and junior Rachel Harman led the Inman High School volleyball team to a second-place finish in the Burrton Invitational Volleyball Tournament Saturday, Sept. 29, in Burrton.

“We had a great day of volleyball,” Inman head coach Emily Butler said. DeWitt and Harman were selected for the all-tournament team.

DeWitt had 67 digs in the tournament, while Harman was credited with 22 kills. The Lady Teutons went unbeaten in pool play. Inman edged Sterling 25-12, 24-26, 25-15 in the semifinals of the championship bracket. Cunningham defeated Inman 25-22, 25-23 in the championship match.

Inman cruised through it pool matches, whipping Fairfield 25-7, 25-13; Skyline 25-16, 25-14; and host Burrton 25-13-25-18. Heading into the tournament, the Lady Teutons had won three of the four home matches they played earlier in the week.

• Medicine Lodge nipped Inman 23-25, 25-19, 28-26. Inman defeated Elyria Christian 25-22, 25-16. The matches were played Thursday, Sept. 27, in the IHS gymnasium.

“We were very up and down tonight,” Butler said. “There was a great battle against Medicine Lodge, but we came up short.

We played much better against Elyria.”

Harman led the Lady Teutons with 13 kills and DeWitt contributed 32 digs. “We are ready to work on coming out with more energy and not allowing teams to go on runs,” Butler said. The Lady Teutons improved their overall record to 17-10.

Inman was scheduled to play Remington and Sedgwick Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Whitewater. Results were not available at press time. Inman will next compete in a modified quadrangular at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Moundridge.
