McPHERSON—Jeanette Elva Geiman-Stockham, 98, of McPherson, Kan., passed away at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 peacefully, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.
Jeanette was born on her parents’ farm near Groveland, Kan.. on Dec. 17, 1920, a daughter of Clara Louise (Hoefer) and Frederick Carl Wilke.
Jeanette attended Groveland country school, and McPherson High School, McPherson.
She was a 75-year member of First Presbyterian Church McPherson, Kansas, where she served her church through the years in many capacities.
Jeanette and her husband Lawrence owned and operated the Geiman Grocery Store in Conway, Kan. and she continued the store while Lawrence was serving during WWII in the United States Navy. She was also a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.
Jeanette was a member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, Conway Co-workers, and B.P.O.E. 502 ElKan. Lodge Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, crafts, cooking and baking. Also she enjoyed going to Kanopolis to their cabin and fishing with family. Jeanette enjoyed working on quilts for her children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower gardens, house plants and always had African violets blooming. She really enjoyed spending time with her card playing friends and played several times a week. After several falls, she went into the Cedar’s long term care where she continued playing Bingo and Dominos.
Jeanette Wilke was united in marriage to Lawrence Geiman on September 3, 1937 at Salina, Kan. The young couple established their first home together in Conway, Kan. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Janet and Jackie. Lawrence died on June 19, 1971. Jeanette Geiman was united in marriage to Lloyd Stockham on April 1, 1973 at McPherson, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in McPherson and this union brought Lloyd’s, children, Norman, Diane, and Steven to this union. Lloyd died on Jan. 30, 1988.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Helms and husband Larry, of McPherson, Kan. and Jackie Bohnenblust and husband Fred, of McPherson, Kan.; her step-children, Diane Mattingly, of Kansas City, Mo. and Steven Stockham and wife Marcia, of St. George, Kan.; her 10 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her six great-great-grandchildren, RJ Armstrong, Austin Armstrong, Tyler Mullinex, Paisley Mullinex, Bentley Mullinex, and Autumn Schebaum; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Lawrence Geiman and Lloyd Stockham; her step-son, Norman Stockham; her brother, Rudolph Wilke; her sisters, Vada McCarty, Hilda Allen, Gladys Roberson, Dorothy Slabach, and Elnora Wilke.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, McPherson.
Graveside services were held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
The memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kan., at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.
