On Monday, June 11, 2018 at approximately 12:25 a.m., McPherson Police Department was dispatched to Mustang Mobile Park, 400 block of Dales Draw, McPherson, following the report of gunshots being fired. Officers arrived on scene and located the body of a deceased white male, with apparent gunshot wounds, which was located in an empty lot in the area.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigations was contacted and are currently on scene assisting the McPherson Police Department in processing the scene. An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Regional Forensic Science Center in Wichita, Kan.
Police are requesting the public to stay away from the area until the crime scene processing has been completed and the scene is released by the McPherson PD.
7:00 p.m. 6/11/18 update from County Attorney
McPherson Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigation into an early morning shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead, McPherson County Attorney Greg Benefiel has announced. The investigation of leads and the crime scene continues. Around 12:25 a.m., McPherson Police received a report of a shots fired at the Mustang Mobile Home Park in the 400 block of Dales Draw. Officers located the victim in a vacant lot of the park with gunshot wounds. The victim was determined to be dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Benefiel said the victim’s identity will not be announced before Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
