Gladys Marie Ford, 87, of McPherson, Kan. passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital.
Ford was born in McPherson, Kan. on Feb. 23, 1931, a daughter of Irene Marie (Hart) and Alma M. Madden.
She attended the McPherson Public Schools, McPherson, Kan.
She was a former member of Church of the Brethren McPherson, Kan.
Ford was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked as Supervisor of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department for Highland Manor, McPherson, Kan. for 14 years of which she was supervisor for 10 of those years.
Ford enjoyed spending time with her husband Charles, camping, painting by #s, embroidery work, watching movies, taking care of others, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Gladys Marie Madden was united in marriage to Everett Charles Ford on Oct. 3, 1948 at McPherson, Kan. Charles died on March 30, 2010..
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Nelson, Ohio, Charles “Bill” W. Ford, Colorado, James D. Ford and wife Elly, of Wichita, Kan., and Bettie Ruth McNeill, of Nobel, Ark.; her sister, Katherine Neeley and husband Harold, of North Hollywood, Calif.; her 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Ford was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Albert Paul “Bud” Madden, Patrick Brodie, and Robert E. Madden, two great-grandson, C. J. Watson and Christopher Charles Krause; her husband Charles Ford; and a son-in-law Rev. Max Neslon.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
Graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kan., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 with Reverend Chris Whitacre officiating.
