McPHERSON—COVID-19 has claimed summer favorite from the McPherson Community. Concerts for a Cause has been canceled for the remainder of the season.

Concerts for a Cause, typically held each Thursday at Hopp’s Sno Shack to benefit local non-profit organizations, was canceled on Monday.

“After much thought and consideration, we have decided to cancel the remaining Concerts for a Cause this year,” Brian Hopp said. “This decision was not made lightly, as the concerts are the highlight of our year. We love being able to see the community come together on our little block.”

Though the decision was difficult to make, Hopp said the decision was made with the community in mind. They wanted to do their part to help keep community members safe.

“When it comes to hosting events, there are so many unknowns, which is why we are choosing to hold off on the concert series until next year,” Hopp said.

Hopp said he and his wife, Kendra Hopp, will continue supporting the non-profits in the community in other ways this summer, and he encouraged other individuals and businesses to do the same. Many of the non-profits which benefit from Concerts for a Cause have online donation options on their websites.

Hopp is already looking towards the future and said next year the concert series will be bigger and better than ever. It is unknown at this time if the annual Back to School Bash will be held at Hopp’s Sno Shack this year; an announcement will be made closer to the beginning of the school year.
