McPHERSON–Carroll Dean “Pat” Patrick, 82, of McPherson, Kan., passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at The Cedars, McPherson. He was a claims manager for Farmers Alliance Insurance Co., retiring after 30 years. Prior to that, he was a Topeka police officer with the K9 Unit. Pat was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Patrick was born on Sept. 28, 1936, in Lone Elm, KS, the son of Harvey Robert Patrick, Sr. and Miranda Irene (Huffman) Patrick. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1955. Patrick was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Parsons on Oct. 11, 1959, in Topeka, KS. She died August 2, 1993. He later married Barbara Jean White on Jan. 1, 1997, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
Patrick was a history buff and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many summers were spent with his grandkids at Table Rock Lake. He was well known for making fabulous beef jerky, which everyone loved! He was also a member of the Air Capitol Corvette Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; two children, Shawn Patrick (Suzi) of Gray, GA and Kelly Ponting (Jeff) of McPherson, KS; sister, Rose McKeever (Harry) of Berryton, KS; six grandchildren, Megan Smith (Clint) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Shawna Kenton of Hutchinson, KS, Miranda Walters (Greg) of McPherson, KS, Devlin Patrick of Savannah, GA, Rylee Patrick of Gray, GA, and Kolin Ponting of McPherson, KS; five great-grandchildren, Greydan Smith, KayDee Smith, Bentley Walters, Adelyne Smith, and Riggs Walters.
He is preceded in death by: his parents and his first wife, Beverly.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
