Santa Fe Trail Celebration in Galva
A Santa Fe Trail Celebration will be held in Galva at 10 a.m., July 24 at the 56 Family Restaurant, 220 E. US-56 in Galva. See the Santa Fe Trail mural painted by Barb Bland inside the restaurant, as well as some traditional foods cooked up by Tom and Tammy Nestor. The Galva Museum, 202 S. Main, is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with a KSHS kid-friendly traveling trunk about Trading on the Santa Fe Trail.
McPherson Senior Center
The McPherson Senior Center is open and serving Friendship Meals daily. Please call Connie at 241-0160 a day in advance to reserve a meal for $3. The senior center has also returned to regular programming. Come enjoy a cup of coffee, play a game of pool or visit with friends.
Free Movie in the Park
Starting at dark on July 23, the movie, “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” will be shown at the Lakeside Park band shell. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and watch a movie under the stars. Sponsored by Disability Supports of the Great Plains and the McPherson CVB.
Moundridge Food Pantry
The Moundridge Food Pantry is open. The food pantry is open from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesdays, 3-5 p.m. on Thursdays and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays. The food pantry is located at the Senior Citizens Center, 100 N. Schmidt Ave. The door is on the west side of the building.
Enjoy watching Mamma Mia in Lindsborg. Mamma Mia will be performed from 8:30-11 p.m. on July 23 and 24 at the Band Shell in Swensson Park, 400 N. Main in Lindsborg. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and online at www.broadwayrfd.org.
McPherson County Farmers Market
The market is held from 7:30 a.m.-noon every Saturday morning through Oct. 30. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 600 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat and much more are available.
Concerts for a Cause
Concerts for a Cause will take place at 7 p.m. each Thursday at Hopp’s Sno Shack, 214 E. Euclid. On July 29 is YNOTUS. On Aug. 5, Michelle King is featured and on Aug. 14 is the Back to School Bash, featuring Kyle Killgorg.
Every Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. and Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., children can enjoy Virtual Storytime, hosted by the McPherson Public Library. Registration is required and can be done by going online to www.macpl.libcal.com. Zoom links will be sent out one hour prior to the event.
15th Annual Youth Fishing Derby
Grab your poles and head out to the fishing derby from 8 a.m.-noon on July 24 at Lakeside Park. The fishing derby is hosted by the McPherson Park Department. This is a free event for ages 6-15 years. Three age groups. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Fishing Derby starts at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded.
Bingo at the American Legion
Bingo is held at the McPherson American Legion every Sunday. The early bird session starts at 2:30 p.m. and regular games begin at 3:15 p.m.
Play Day in Marquette
The Marquette Rec is hosting play day from 1-3 p.m. on July 24 at the Wolverine Sports Complex, 310 Harold St. in Marquette. This free event is for kindergarten through sixth graders. Activities include water games, relays and an obstacle course. Parents can register their children by emailing email@example.com.
Bullpup Paw Print Fundraiser
The McPherson High School Cheerleaders are holding a Bullpup Paw Print Fundraiser. You can have a small paw print or large paw print painted at your home or business in the driveway. Small prints are $20 and large prints are $25. To order a paw print, email Head Coach Jodi Wenthe at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include in your email name, phone number, address of where you want the paw print painted, how many you want painted and if you want a large or small paw print.
