Volunteers Needed

 

Anyone wishing to help the American Legion put out crosses or the VFW put up flags for Memorial Weekend should meet at the west entrance to McPherson Cemetery on Saturday, May 29 at 9 a.m.  Help will also be needed on Memorial Day at 2 p.m. to remove the crosses and flags.

 

Pancake Benefit Breakfast

The Inman Lions Club is hosting a pancake benefit breakfast from 7-11 a.m., June 5, at the Inman Community Building. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit Joan and Russ Goering to offset their expenses related to Joan’s cancer treatments. 

 

McPherson Senior Center

The McPherson Senior Center is open and serving Friendship meals daily. Please call Connie at 241-0160 a day in advance to reserve a meal for $3. The senior center has also returned to regular programming. Come enjoy a cup of coffee, play a game of pool or visit with friends. 

 

COVID-19 Testing

The McPherson Fire Department is conducting free COVID-19 testing for residents. Symptoms are not required for testing and no doctor’s order is needed. To schedule an appointment for testing call, 245-2505. Testing takes approximately five minutes and results are received in 24-48 hours. 

 

Galva City Wide Garage Sales

Go treasure hunting during the Galva citywide garage sales starting at 8 a.m., June 5. To register your garage sale, complete a registration form in the Galva city offices. Registration can also be completed online by visiting the Galva Citywide Garage Sales page on Facebook. 

 

Traveling Train Exhibit

The traveling train exhibit will be on display at the McPherson Museum until May 29. The Mid Kansas Model Railroaders are setting up their traveling train exhibit at the museum. This is a different display than our permanent exhibit in the museum. Come take a look, as it will only be here for a short time.

 

Virtual Storytime

Every Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m., children can enjoy Virtual Storytime, hosted by the McPherson Public Library. Registration is required and can be done by going online to www.macpl.libcal.com. Zoom links will be sent out one hour prior to the event. 

 

Bingo at the American Legion

Bingo is held at the McPherson American Legion every Sunday. The early bird session starts at 2:30 p.m., and regular games begin at 3:15 p.m.
