Perkins owners Diane and Tim Hoard were shocked when they started to negotiate their lease renewal last week and found out they would not be able to renew and had 30 days to vacate the premises. The Hoards say they are saddened to close Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, which has been a presence in McPherson for the last 20 years. The last day will be Feb. 25, 2018.
Given the rushed nature of the closing, Diane Hoard said their future plans are unknown.
“While we do not have any immediate plans, it would be fair to say that we are open-minded and will be exploring options to return to the McPherson community,” she said.
The Hoards say the toughest part is saying goodbye to the loyal customers they’ve come to know in the last 20 years.
“We sincerely hope to have an opportunity to bid farewell to our extended family of customers over the next few weeks who may stop in the McPherson Perkins. If not, we truly hope to have an opportunity to serve you at some point in the future,” Diane Hoard said.
The property is owned by McPherson Hotel Corp. based out of Lawrence, Kan. and registered to Nick Bhakta. Mr. Bhakta was unavailable for comment.
